The times are showing a marked contradiction: on one hand the market is expanding to new countries where it is meeting with approval from consumers; on the other the Italian sector is very divided, with the agricultural side suffering due to the lack of a national plan and common strategies, and the brand names which appear to be well-structured and in a position to deal with the main issues. However, future prospects look bright for everyone, provided that renovation in agriculture starts now with the support of institutions and research centres.

We'll find Protected Denominations of Origin (Dop) and Protected Geographical Indications (Igp) for food typicality protection, following the route of oil places and tastings all through the Italian country.
