In Campania, the area around Salerno is known as the greatest
producing land of the whole region. Here, olives dominate the landscape
and oil finds its higher expressive force.
Thanks to the two protected denominations of origin "Cilento"
and "Colline Salernitane", oil productions are now more
evident to the consumers. As a matter of fact, the European Union
officially recognized them in order to better valorize their original
typicality.
More than elsewhere, extra-virgin oils from Salerno carry unquestionable
signs of the land. A wide variety of olives indeed, are strictly
related to this cultivation area. (...)
Thus, in this charming land rich of history and traditions, Ancel
Keys, the great American researcher, was very welcome. Keys, mostly
known for spreading the image of olive oil all through the world,
established the basis to start a study on the nutritional properties
of this food. Oil is in fact a precious olive juice in all respects.
It's nature's quintessence and its use is specially indicated for
